Hello fellow bookworms!! I hope you guys are enjoying the last days of summer with a lot of beach reading!

If you’re like me, I’m sure you’re having a great time with the new releases that came out recently with a great tune selection.  Speaking of music…what kind of music have you guys been listening to lately??

I decided to share one of my favorite things to do! I’m not sure if the people that actually know me, know this about me (I guess you’ll find out soon enough) but…I absolutely love checking out movie soundtracks. I don’t mean those with popular songs (although I do listen to them as well) but those that belong in period dramas or are just filled with contemporary instrumental music. I’m sure once you combine your favorite book with the right music you’ll know what I mean.

Pride and Prejudice

So besides of being one of my favorite movies ever…this soundtrack is amazing! I’ve seen this movie about 50 times over the years and I just love how the music blends with each scene. This album was composed by Dario Marianelli and performed by Jean-Yves Thibaudet (piano) and the English Chamber Orchestra. This group of musicians have done several collaborations with English film director, Joe Wright. These include Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.

Breathe in

This film was released in 2013 staring both Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones. Unlike Pride and Prejudice this is a contemporary film that portrays the unsettling of a piano teacher’s family after he gets involved with a foreign exchange student that came to live with them. I must say this soundtrack is as incredible as the movie, composed by Dustin O’Halloran, who’s also famous for Lion and Like Crazy. It has so many different songs that you can adapt it to any genre you’re currently reading.

In addition, you can also use both albums to complete work tasks or homework. I personally have a very hard time concentrating on doing one thing at the time, and this is one of my most efficient tools to avoid distractions!
