Book Review of Doctor Dearest by R.S. Grey

Dr. Easton is part man, part myth.
He’s a formidable surgeon. Highly respected in his field.
He also happens to be an ex-collegiate quarterback with a classically handsome face.
Are you catching on yet?
He’s horrible.
A walking Ralph Lauren ad.
He’s also so off limits he should come with a warning label: This way lies heartache.

Not only is he an attending at the hospital where I’m training, he’s also my brother’s best friend. If you’ve lost count, that’s two reasons why I plan on putting this ridiculous crush behind me. Besides, it’s definitely not mutual.

Dr. Easton has never once paid me special attention. No tempting smirks. Not even one subtle innuendo. To him, I’m just another resident—all but invisible.

For the last five years, I’ve mentored Natalie in the OR, stayed in line, and kept my hands to myself, but it’s been agonizing.

Natalie is trouble in scrubs. A walking temptation I’ve been forced to ignore.

For so long, I’ve wanted her in silence. By the time fate finally throws me a bone, my patience has run out.

Natalie’s brother is leaving town, and he wants me to watch over her while he’s gone.

He has no idea how I feel about her.
Neither does she.
But she will.

Haven’t you heard good things come to those who wait, Natalie?
Well…I’ve done my waiting.

“Yeah, well, my love for you has never felt easy. Overpowering, dangerous, scary…” He trails off as his hand caresses my arm. “Gentle, even, but not easy. It should tell you something that I’m willing to put in the effort to make us work, however it needs to happen. I’m not going to stop wanting you even if you need space from time to time. We’ll make it work. All of it.”

R.S. Grey

As always, R.S. Grey never disappoints her readers with her amazing romantic comedies. I must say she totally nailed it with Doctor Dearest!

The characters are both equally amazing. Natalie is a hard working surgeon who’s totally committed to her job. But Guess what? So is Connor. A few years her senior and her brother’s best friend, he has always maintained a definite distance with her, to the point that people think they don’t like each other.

The problem is, they totally do. They’ve kept their attraction hidden from one another for quite sometime.

When Natalie’s brother (and roommate!) decides to work abroad for a few months, he lets Connor move in whilst he renovates his own townhouse. Natalie, who lives in the guest house outback, does not appreciate this decision. I mean, the sexual tension between these two can be cut with a knife!

As the reader you know they’ve been attracted to one another for a really long time. The difference is that, Connor has decided to stop waiting for the right moment to make a move on her. The time is now. Natalie just doesn’t know what to do with this new information.

At first, she puts ridiculous conditions that drive Connor insane. Sometimes you think they’re making progress only to go two steps backwards. However, they can’t resist each other and eventually they give in.

Eventually they find out they’re expecting a child together. Although they’re super scared, they grow even closer. All of R.S. Grey’s novel bring a smile to my face instantly. Doctor Dearest is no difference. This novel will have you laughing all throughout the story.

I have to say that the scene where her water breaks is the best! Natalie is just plain crazy, just you wait and see!
