Music record player and books

What is your favorite music for reading?!

This is some kind of dilema, since we have people that don’t believe you can read and listen to music at the same time. Silence is the key for them to concentrate!

Although I’ve never been diagnosed with ADD (that I know of haha), I have a really hard time concentrating. Therefore, music has been my salvation when it comes to tasks that require my full attention. If you look into my Youtube feed, you’ll find all different kinds of concentration music.

So, I’m definitely one of those people that NEED music for reading, specially when we’re talking about business books and classics. For instance, I even shared on my instagram the struggle I was having reading Emma by Jane Austen. It had been a while since I read a classic and was finding it really hard to focus. One of the things that helped me was reading it simultaneously with an audiobook and then I switched to soothing background music. In this particular case, I decided to listen to the Pride and Prejudice Movie Soundtrack. This way I was recreating the whole Jane Austen world in my head!

Basically this is what background music does for me. It turns reading into an immersive experience. It’s like I become an anonymous character in the story, which is pretty sweet if you ask me!

This is why I decided to share some albums (watch out for a ton of movie soundtracks ) for those who enjoy music while reading!

Pride and Prejudice – Jean-Yves Thibaudet

War and Peace – Martin Phillips

All the Bright Places – Keegan Dewitt

Breathe In – Dustin O’halloran

These are some of the movie soundtracks I love listening to when I’m reading or working. In my line of work, I’m always reading contracts so it’s very important I’m completely focused! As I said before, this has improved my concentration skills and makes me take a break from reality in order to really engage myself with the story I’m reading!

If you’re interested on more music suggestions, read Music & Reading where I included a series of records I read to, depending on the genre!

Success! You're on the list.
