Book Review: Lick – Kylie Scott

Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man in her room, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is certain, being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride.

“Let me clue you in on something. You don’t have to make sense. You just have to want to be together and be willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. It’s amazingly simple. That’s love, Ev, putting each other first.”

Kylie Scott

Lick by Kylie Scott is a romantic comedy, where Evelyn Thomas wakes up in a hotel room in Vegas, with a hot guy she doesn’t know. Except, she kind of has his name – she assumes- tattooed on her butt! Awkward much?

When she gets home, she’s surprised to see the press camping outside waiting for her. That’s the moment an epiphany appears and she acknowledges that she kinda married super mega rock star, David Ferris!

She obviously wants out of the marriage as soon as possible. Marrying someone in Vegas, getting so drunk she won’t even remember the whole night, is definitely out of character for her. However, David doesn’t appear as panicked regarding the marriage. He actually suggests they leave town and get to know each other for a bit in a secluded space. No press, no bandmates, no family. Just them.

Along the story, we get to know this characters deeply and how they’re meant for each other. Honestly, I’ve been wanting to share with you guys a good rom com for these dark days we’re living. I mean, I love rom com any time! Coronavirus or not, I’m always up for a great laugh! But I get it’s necessary to let loose for a few hours and escape this uncertain reality.

This is an oldie but a good one! I really hope you guys enjoy it!

If you’re into romantic comedy, don’t hesitate to check out books by R.S. Grey, she’s one of the best!
