Book review of Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry

To Whom it May Concern,

It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soulmates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soulmates.

When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn’t plan to stumble into Joe’s bar and have Daniel’s music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.

When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn’t prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.

Our love story wasn’t only about the physical connection.

It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter.

It was ours.

And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.

-Ashlyn Jennings

“I think you’re beautiful,” I whispered… “And I don’t mean your looks. I mean your smarts, your protectiveness, your brokeness. I think that’s beautiful.”

Brittainy C. Cherry

This is one of those love stories that will have you crying from beginning to end. I’m warning you!

Ashlyn Jennings just lost her twin sister. In order to try to move on with life, she’s sent to live with her father and his new family. She doesn’t plan on bumping on the handsome 22 year old musician- Daniel Daniels- on the train ride though. I’m not exactly a believer of love at first sight, but this scene had me ALMOST convinced it can happen. They instantly connect. It’s the first time since Gabby- her twin- she finds herself truly smiling and looking forward to something new. That’s why she heads later to one of his gigs.

Moving with her father was kind of a challenge, since they were estranged to each other for a while. The fact that he had a new partner with two teenagers of her own, intimidated her. She didn’t expect to get so close to Hailey and Ryan. Through pain, they became quite the group.

Going back to Daniel. They really don’t see it coming at all, when on the first day of school they run into each other. As teacher and student.

You might think this is it. A teacher- student romance. It’s so much more! You see, Daniel is also grieving. He also needs help finding his way after loss. It’s as if fate brought them hope for a minute there, only to be taken away in seconds.

They obviously try to restrain from each other. But they’re weak. Pain brings them together. However, when they are united life seems a little bit more bearable for both of them. Especially when tragedy strikes again.

As I said before, this is not a happy story although it might have a happy ending for some. This a novel about struggle and loss, so beautifully written you’ll feel torn in two when reading it.
